The Research School of Behavioral and Cognitive Neurosciences (BCN) was visited by the Hersenstichting (Dutch Brain foundation) on the 3rd of March 2020. BCN brings together research in the field of neuroscience. Several presentations and demonstrations were given of the latest developments in the field of neuroscience and research in which BCN is involved. Wim Veling & Bart Lestestuiver of VR mental health lab were present to give a demonstration on virtual reality (VR) treatment for psychosis. During the demonstration, people could see how a VR treatment works by experiencing a role play scenario. The strength of VR lies in the fact that you are completely cut off from the outside world, which allows you to immerse yourself in the virtual world. All in all, it was a very interesting day where guests could see the latest treatment methods in VR and what is being done and achieved in terms of neuroscience research.
