Virtual Reality Assisted Schema Therapy

VR1

Experiential psychological treatments, such as schema therapy, which involve imagination exercises, are becoming increasingly popular and are being offered more widely. Although many patients benefit from these treatments, there is also a substantial group of patients who do not experience positive outcomes because they struggle with visualization. Therefore, in this project, we are developing dialogues with virtual reality avatars that represent schema modes such as the ‘punitive parent’ and comparing them with traditional imaginary dialogues. If the developed VR exercises are received positively, they will offer new treatment options for individuals who currently do not benefit from existing methods.
